Lab tours
Four research facilities can be visited during the lab tours.
A large test Ventilation Chamber was designed and built at the Eindhoven University of Technology. This large room is assumed to be representative of a classroom or living room in a long-term care facility. The room is used for airflow and contaminant research, to provide validation data for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, and to test the performance of portable air cleaners.
The Solar Building Elements Application Testing (SolarBEAT) is an internationally acclaimed research facility for development and full-scale testing of innovative Solar Energy Systems.
The Acoustic Laboratory (Echo) has three connected sound transmission rooms, one of which is used as a reverberation chamber.
The rooms are connected through a small vertical opening that can be used to investigate the insulation of small doors and wall samples, a larger vertical opening for wall and facade testing and a large horizontal opening for floor and roof testing.
The atmospheric boundary layer Wind Tunnel (Ventur) facilitates environmental experimental research for the urban, shipping, automotive, air-quality, sports and wind-energy sectors.
Wind speeds of up to 30 m/s can be reached in the test section, which is 3 m wide, 2 m high and 27 m long.
